Street Go-Kart, Tokyo

Tokyo's streets, driven from the seat of a road-legal go-kart at the pace of city traffic, look nothing like they do from the inside of a taxi. You are at road level, inside the sound, watching Akihabara's glowing signs or Odaiba's waterfront flash past at the edge of your peripheral vision. It is, without question, one of the city's most singular ways to see it.

Convoys of up to five karts depart from a central Tokyo base, with a lead guide setting the pace through licensed routes across districts such as Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara, and the Rainbow Bridge waterfront. Costumes are included — you choose your character from an extensive range before departure. A safety briefing is given to all participants; a standard driving licence is required.
